The entire event will take place in the Wisłoujście Fortress – a branch of the Gdańsk Museum, a fortification monument unique on a global scale, with origins dating back as far as the 15th century. In the 17th century, the fortress served as a lighthouse, a control point for ships entering the Vistula River, a naval base and, above all, an external garrison for the city of Gdańsk.
In 2025, we will take on the roles of a fortress garrison during both peacetime and times of threat. You will be divided into garrison companies (according to regulations from that period), families living in the fortifications, royal and Swedish troops, and assigned various roles: military officers, non-commissioned officers, civilian crew members such as the fortress scribe, standard-bearer, chaplain of the local parish, house mistress overseeing the kitchen, kitchen crew, a feldsher and a surgeon, sentries on guard duty, craftsmen, and sutlers offering their services to the fort crew.
This year’s battle will take the form of skirmishes taking place in the area familiar to you from previous editions. We are also planning one day dedicated to joint maneuvers and drills. Full garrison alerts are also being considered, in case enemy forces approach the fortress walls.
Please plan your arrival and departure accordingly, as the best option will be to arrive no later than Thursday evening (3rd of July) and leave on Sunday (6th of July) after 4:00 PM. During the event, there will be traffic restrictions within the fortress grounds. If necessary, arrival on Friday will only be possible in the evening hours. On Sunday, to shorten the packing time, you may have all your belongings packed and stored in your tent from the morning, so that after 4:00 PM all you need to do is fold up your tent, load the car, and head off.
As always – our shower containers will be available a few days before i.e. from Tuesday (1st of July) until the following Tuesday (8th of July). We encourage you to arrive early and, if possible, leave later and take the option to explore our beautiful city.
