The entire event will take place at the Wisłoujście Fortress – a branch of the Gdańsk Museum, a unique fortification monument on a global scale, dating back to the 15th century. In 1628, the fortification served as a lighthouse, a control point for ships entering the Vistula River, a fleet base and, above all, an external garrison for Gdańsk’s city troops.
As in previous years, we are planning skirmishes and military exercises, educational and craft stands, market stalls and additional activities in a separate programme for historical reenactors.
Communication group:
We run an information group on Facebook for historical reenactors: Wisłoujście 1628 / Gdańsk / Reenactors, Friends & Support
Arrival
Please allow yourself plenty of time for arrival and departure, as it is best to arrive no later than Thursday evening (2 July) and leave no earlier than Sunday (5 July) after 4 p.m. In the meantime, traffic restrictions will be in place inside the fortifications during the event. Arrival on Friday will only be possible in the evening. On Sunday, in order to reduce packing time, you can have all your belongings packed and stored in your tent from the morning, so that after 4 p.m. you only need to fold up your tent, pack your car and hit the road.
As always, our shower containers will be available throughout the week, i.e. from Tuesday (30 June) to the following Tuesday (7 July). We encourage you to arrive early and take advantage of the opportunity to visit our beautiful city.
Basic information for participants:
- The event will take place on 3–5 (Friday–Sunday) July 2026, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. It is possible to arrive a few days before the event and leave 1–2 days after the event.
- On Thursday, 2 July 2025, participants will be accommodated, and departures are only possible on Sunday, 5 July 2026, from 4 p.m.
- Clothing and equipment dating from 1590-1650.
- We offer accommodation:
- In your own tents on the fort’s bastions and in the forest on the Eastern Rampart. We do not provide tents.
- In the barracks. The rooms are empty and can be arranged according to your own ideas. Accommodation will be provided in groups (several people per room) based on the information provided in the registration form.
- For those who plan to present workshop, craft or other stands open to tourists, ground floor rooms in tenement houses will be available. These rooms are available only with the organiser’s consent.
- Stalls and sales stands have their own separate area (outside the fort in front of the gate); selling inside the fort is not permitted.
5. Wood and straw will be available on site. There is one fire pit in the Fort courtyard; additional fires may be lit on portable fire pits with the organiser’s consent (claiming to know the organiser does not constitute consent from the organiser).
6. There is a toilet with washbasins in the Fort. Additionally, from 30 June (Tuesday) to 7 July (Tuesday), a sanitary container with showers and washbasins will be available.
7. It is possible to finance educational and craft stations running their programme for three days during the event, during the facility’s opening hours (please note that an axe stuck in a tree stump is not an educational station for the profession of executioner). This is subject to individual arrangements with the organiser, and for this purpose, please send your offer to: m.flis@muzeumgdansk.pl
8. Food: We provide access to the fortress kitchen for participants’ meals. You must bring your own food. Please note that there are no shops near the fortifications. You will need to go to the town centre to buy food.
